George Lea Park annual potjiekos cook-off
PARKMORE -Parkmore community members enjoyed a fun-filled family day at the Sandton Sports Club at George Lea Park on 27 September.
The Rare Disease Society of South Africa, a registered non-profit organisation that provides care and support to rare disease patients, called on community members to participate in an annual potjiekos competition to raise funds.
The ‘potjie with a purpose’ cook-off was aimed at raising funds for the organisation as well as raise awareness about life threatening, rare diseases. The 25 cooking contestants prepared various potjie dishes while the rest of the community members in attendance enjoyed other activities in the sun with their families.
Other activities on the day included a Kids Corner, a mini market, refreshments from the Craft Beer Garden, live music and entertainment as well as a game of volley ball.
