The opening of the park, which was scheduled for last week, was postponed without any reason given.
According to the City of Joburg’s Facebook page, a release would be issued regarding the postponement.
The much-anticipated park, which is situated just south of the Mandela Bridge, running along Ntemi Piliso Street, was developed at a cost of R13 million.
It boasts a playground, outdoor gym, toilet facilities, amphitheatre and picnic tables – but almost a year after construction was completed, the public remained unable to utilise the multi-million rand facility.
The recent announcement of the park’s opening was met with public scepticism and frustration on Facebook because the park had taken so long to open.
