Sunninghill Estate crime alert

SUNNINGHILL - An urgent crime warning has been issued following a robbery in Sunninghill.

Residents have been cautioned to be on the alert after a robbery on Sunninghill Estate. A white Ford, carrying four suspects, blocked an estate resident as she reversed out of her driveway in the early afternoon on 13 August.

According to Captain Kym Cloete of Sandton police, the victim was robbed of her handbag, car keys and cellphone. The suspects then entered the house, but fled when the burglar alarm was activated. The police are in possession of footage of the car, and are investigating a case of common robbery.

Sunninghill Ratepayers’ Association has urged community members to be particularly alert in the face of vehicle-related crimes. Residents should exercise caution when entering and exiting homes, and be aware of vehicles or pedestrians loitering in the street. It is also advisable to be alert to the possibility of being followed, and to keep all valuables out of sight when driving.
